Peter: The Unlikely Disciple

Peter, an unlikely disciple, was the first to profess Jesus as the Son of God, yet he later denied knowing him, but then went on to give his life for the sake of his call. The stories of Peter’s shortcomings serve to humanize Peter, allowing ordinary Christians to identify with him. And in the end, these stories always help to amplify or in some way clarify the identity, power, or mercy of Christ.
